here are some pics of the current state of our living room. i spoke about my Spring Re-Do back in the spring here and the progress here - well, it's still piecemeal because i've been so busy! but who am i kidding, i'm always futzing with decor related stuff. i also still need to re-do that side-of-the-road-find coffee table which i've been meaning to do for foreeever. i just haven't decided what exactly i want to do - i was going to cover it with pages from old books - like the coffee table i did for Nate Berkus, but i think that will be too busy with the striped feature wall….i'll think of something!
the breakdown:
Walls: i free-hand painted stripes on a gray wall using a dark teal and a golden yellow. free-hand is the bomb because you don't have to bother with tape! plus, i like the organic looking results.
Rug: i wanted something exotic and thought i was going to go with a Turkish print but then i fell in love with this giant boucle jute rug at Ikea for $99! i love the way it looks.
Pillows: the throw pillows are a mix of pillows, the green i got at Bed Bath & Beyond, the red i got in the outdoor seating section of Bed Bath & Beyond and the map-inspired khaki pillows are from Ikea.
Decor Elements: the two Victorian candelabras are antiques that my mom was getting rid of so i scooped them, i've had them for years now - they used to live outside in our patio area. faux sheepskins on the chairs and back of the couch are from Ikea and the lamp and coffee table we found on the side of the road in our neighborhood. the silver tray holding the remote and candles is from the Goodwill. the gold frame we got at a garage sale.
