daily skincare and beauty regimen

Posted by MrKate on

I've gotten many questions on my favorite skincare and beauty products as well as how I do my eye-make-up etc., so the video above is my complete routine from daily skincare to my go-to make-up look for a glamours, everyday look! I cover skincare (exfoliation and moisturizer), foundation, contour and highlights, cat eye liner, eyeshadow, false eyelashes and lips. Details on the products are below...booya!

Ear Cuff bling featured in this video are: the no-piercing necessary Mr. Kate Bark Ear Cuff (rose and yellow gold layered) and Worm Ear Cuff. Pierced earrings are the Mr. Kate Seahorse Earrings. The hair is the DIY Heidi Doody!

Some of my favorite products are a little pricey but they last a long time and are soooo worth it! Many of the products mentioned in the video/post are available at Sephora or your local drugstore.

Here I am with not a lick of make-up on but after I've cleansed and moisturized...

After my skincare and make-up routine is complete....

Mr. Kate earrings and ear cuffs!

My Routine:
  1. prep/cleanse skin with Solvere products. I was breaking out and my dermatologist recommended this kit to me and I've been using it now for 2 years! I use the cleanser twice a day and sometimes the pads if I'm breaking out or hormonal but they can dry me out. The spot treatment is great overnight on blemishes. I don't use the cleanser because I like a thicker moisturizer like the Jurlique, but if you have more oily skin, you'll probably like the lightweight moisturizer that comes with the kit.
  2. use the cleanser with Clarisonic (once or twice a week) to exfoliate
  3. moisturize with Jurlique moisture replenishing day cream
  4. if eyes feel puffy, I use eye serum with Clarisonic opal
  5. blot face with tissue or toilet paper to take off any excess oil
  6. for the base, I use Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Light (available at Sephora)- it blends in well, makes skin smooth, and has sunscreen-apply all over face
  7. concealer time! Maybelline FIT in Sand has a yellow tone which balances the dark circles under my eyes. Apply on any spots that need to be concealed and blend with your fingertip.
  8. set with powder: Makeup For Ever HD powder. You only need the tiniest bit on "shiny spots" aka around the nose, eyes, forehead and chin - one jar will last foreverrr ha!
  9. for my cheeks, I use the same brush that I used for the powder. I use NARS blush/bronzer combo in "orgasm/laguna". I bronze pretty much my whole face- don't forget your neck! Blush goes on the apple of my cheeks, it's a great excuse to SMILE
  10. contour. Bobbi Brown bronzing powder in "natural". I use the same brush (Prescriptives Cheek Brush) and I contour where I want to have shadows (it helps to make a fishy face) and brings out my cheekbones and defines my jawline.
  11. Sunbeam by Benefit to highlight - right above the cheekbones, the line of my nose, cupids bow of my lip (where the sun would hit you) this product gives a great glow!
  12. eyeshadow base called electric eye primer by Concrete Minerals: it's all natural and you just rub a little bit over eyelids to help eyeshadow stay out of your eyes' creases and for eyeshadow to last all day
  13. eyeliner...I love a cateye using NARS liquid liner in "carpetes". (Loreal makes a great marker tip as well)
  14. using a rounded eyeshadow brush (Sonia Kashuk from Target) I use Smashbox Photo Op in "shutterspeed", it's a blendable trio of colors that help open up and brighten my eyes. contour the lid of the eye by using the darker color towards the outside of my eyes
  15. with a smaller eyeshadow brush, line along the bottom lid to only the middle of the eye
  16. another highlighting trick using Makeup For Ever star powder in "920 yellow gold", using small eyeshadow brush, apply the shimmery gold powder to inner corners of the eyes
  17. curl eyelashes with an eyelash curler. I use the Sephora eyelash curler in the pretty emerald color
  18. my favorite mascara is YSL volume effet faux cils in "1 high density black". Start as close as possible to the base and wiggle upwards, I want to open up my eyes and make them look further apart. apply the tiniest amount to bottom lashes.
  19. to glam it up, I use false lashes purchased from the drugstore. Ardell accent lashes are half lashes and are easier to put on than a whole strip. Glue on your lashes using some lash glue (black blends in better) and some tweezers. Use the butt end of the tweezers to get the strip of lashes as close to your lash-line - watch the video above for better visual demo.
  20. for my lips, I've been into MAC lipstick in "please me". It's got a great matte finish which goes with the 60s vibe and my cat-eye liner.
