this is a post i've been meaning to do for a while. these are pictures of my mom's NYC (West Village) two bedroom, two bath, wrap-around terrace, pent-house apartment that I decorated! my mom wanted a "bohemiam jewel-box" for her and her two opinionated terriers Seamus and Froggy, that was "fun, cozy, yet luxurious." there are definitely many touches, courtesy of my space-saving-genius mother, like the custom cabinetry and slim pantry which is stocked with macro fare!

in order to decide on a color palette for the main living area, which i knew had to be way colorful, i went to a fabric store in LA and picked out the brown-based floral pattern, that now graces the victorian chair by the electric fireplace (which mom had installed). that fabric was our jumping off point, and we took the cues for all the colors in the main living area and kitchen off of that fabric. i love the mismatched dining room chairs, which are reproduction antiques that i had painted in distressed white and then upholstered in colorful fabrics. to keep it eclectic and funky, i mixed some contemporary touches with the decadent flair, like the totally rad vase chandelier over the table, the table itself with its clean lines, and then helllooo, pink kitchen cabinets with mismatched pulls ...i mean why the heck not?!!!

there are still a couple things left to finish, like the wall behind the couch that desperately wants a collection of funky frames (slowly becoming one of my signatures i guess). the apartment has 180 degree views of the city, pretty amazing, the pictures don't do it justice. mom also has a garden planted on the terrace, that was sleeping for the winter, thus no photo op.

on to the master bathroom with the custom italian tile, gorgey! my mom's bedroom is all black and white, with the black and white toile being the inspiration. my mom always wanted toile padded walls, so we went for it!

the second bedroom and bath aren't photo ready yet, but soon! this was also not a budget design. my mother's budget was definitely more than the other projects i've done, hence the custom touches, fabrics, custom sized rugs, etc. but in the scheme of things, nothing was too crazy... the kitchen is from home depot...with some faux paint of course, the hd doesn't carry bohemian jewel box pink yet.
