we can't put this book down!
i just finished a book in two days! that book is The Hunger Games - the first in a trilogy by Suzanne Collins. i can't remember the last time i finished a book in two days, it was probably a Sweet Valley High book in junior high. okay, the point is, this book is so good, you have to read it! i know i'm kind of late to the game (ha) because the movie is coming out in March... but that's even more reason to read it right now!
The Hunger Games is about a girl, yes, a strong, smart and complex girl! She's 16 year old Katniss Everdeen who lives in the mythical land of Panem which, is ruled by an oppressive government. Every year the government forces two teenagers from each of the 12 districts to compete in the Hunger Games - a battle to the death which the whole country watches on television. i'm going to stop there because i don't want to give away anything!
Author Suzanne Collins does such an amazing job creating unique and heart-wrenching characters. The drama and suspense is so intense you have to keep the book in your purse and read it anytime you can, like the Men's Shoe Department at Macy's...well, that's what i did! It's also sexy! Like romantic and full of sexual tension that is as lip biting as it is tragic. i purposefully didn't search the actors who are playing the characters from the book in the movie version because i wanted to create my own visuals in my mind's eye. i encourage you to do the same, and may i say, i'm jealous that you get to read it for the first time! i'm rushing to get the second book ASAP!
