it's here! finally! the DIY/tutorial for the Boho Belt Boots i teased here! these boots are so killer - so go hunting for some cowboy boots and some rad belts and make some for yourself and your loved ones...they'll love you even more for it!
DIY Boho Belted Boots

What You Need:
- a pair of old or thrifted cowboy boots (preferably with no fabric lining)
- various belts (vintage or new - i got my faux leather ones really cheap from Forever 21 for $2.99!) - usually two belts per boot
- strong glue - 3M Maximum Strength Adhesive glue works best (better than e6000 because there's less drying time)
- ribbon, broken chain, lace, ribbons, cotton t-shirt scraps, etc. - anything extra to embellish your boots if you desire more than the belts
- strong scissors
- leather hole punch (optional) - use a sharp instrument to make extra holes in the belts to fit your boots
- fabric glue sticks and hot glue gun (optional but i found it useful when applying the lace ribbon)
- masking tape - to hold belts in place while glue is drying
- cut your boots down the back with your scissors. stop at the heel cap and fold over
- plan your belt arrangement by wrapping them around your boots - usually they will wrap around twice and then buckle. if you need to, punch a new hole or trim your belt to fit perfectly. *don't cinch them too tight, you still have to be able to get your foot in!
- once you've decided on the placement of your belts, start gluing! if you want to put some lace or fabric underneath the belts start with that and adhere with fabric glue sticks straight to your boot leather. don't worry about the white color of the fabric glue because your belts will cover it.
- fasten your belts using the 3M glue - coat a thin coat on the boot area and another thin coat on the belt area, wait about 1 minute, until the glue is tacky and press the two coated sides together. i used a plastic knife to apply the glue. repeat all the way around to adhere your belt to your boot and the belt to the belt where it criss-crosses or overlaps. use the masking tape in places to hold the belt in place until the glue dries, around 1 hour.
- finish by gluing on some chain pieces, etc. if you want more decoration. use the 3M for heavy stuff. and/or tie on some stripes of fabric for more of that boho look!
