Fashion Risk: The Color Nude

MRKATE_2016_Q1_NudeOOTD_Blog (101 of 158)For today's fashion risk, I'm taking a cue from the great Lady Godiva. That's right, I'm going NUDE!

Okay, so maybe that was a little misleading. What I meant is that I'm letting the most fearsome color, a just-off-your-skintone beige, lead the way in my OOTD. Most people (myself, prior to this excursion, included) are weary of nude. It's not always flattering, can wash you out, and is not easy to wear. But if the Kardashians can make skintight nude latex dresses a legitimate option for evening wear, I can certainly try my hand at styling this high-risk, high-reward color.

The 3 keys to styling the color nude:

1. Choose a nude with a slight pink hue over a yellow hue which is universally more flattering. 2. Go with a bold solid black to bring contrast to your look, like I did here with the black tights. 3. Layer your nudes. Nude is a subtle color so play with that and add different shades of nude in your lip color, shoes, bag, etc.
