I've done posts about decorating with garment racks and a different post about floating shelves but this post is about both, together, as a happy couple! See, we just recently moved into a new office space and it's very industrial chic with high ceilings, exposed pipes, polished concrete floors, etc. so the challenge is to infuse some Mr. Kate cozy whimsy while honoring the radical vibe of the space. Joey helped me hang a floating shelf above our office garment rack because I thought it would anchor the rack and make it feel like a purposeful closet wall. Garment racks are great for extra clothing storage or if you use one as your actual closet but the wheels make them look temporary. The floating shelf above gives the rack a more permanent look and also provides extra storage for shoes and hats! Plus, quality garment racks are around $70 and the floating shelf I used is $16.99 (from Ikea) so for under 100 bucks you can get a lot more storage and a cool look!
