A Hollywood Home: A Gentleman's Lounge!

Posted by MrKate on

Ahhhh! So, totally, obsessed with how this lounge room design turned out! My goal was to make this petite room as cozy and inviting as possible while working in the vintage character and hints of animal accents that Tyler loves. The color scheme with the warm crimson walls (Benjamin Moore Dinner Party AF-300) and the metallic painted (Dunn Edwards bronze metallic) embossed wallpaper below the chair rail molding make it feel elegant while the animal knobs, Hackney Empire fabric and hand-painted (by moi) Mix-Owl-gist lends an element of whimsey. Shop the room via the links below!

Have a professional wallpaper installer help you install this embossed wallpaper (or DIY it) and paint using a roller and metallic paint - you may need two coats!

Prep It:

  • Pencil and eraser
  • Watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paints
  • Pallet or small bowls
  • Brushes
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
DO IT!:
  1. Sketch your owl or animal bust using a pencil **If you are not a confident drawer you can have an owl printed from online art or trace one**
  2. Go over your sketch with watercolor paints starting with more watered down pigment and adding darker pigment with a smaller brush. Let each paint layer dry unless you want them to bleed together.
  3. Sketch and paint accessories for your animal keeping in mind the size of your animal so that the bow tie, top hat, etc. will be proportionate.
  4. Cut out your desired shapes and hot glue for a 3d interactive art piece.
  5. Frame and prop on counter or hang!
