Tiny Master Bathroom Renovation
Posted by MrKate on
They say the best things come in the littlest packages, and while that usually means gifts, as of today, we can extend that saying to bathrooms, as well! Though, honestly, this massive bathroom redo that we did with the help of The Home Depot who sponsored this video was the ultimate gift for the Rieux family! Their itty bitty bathroom was the victim of minimal floor space, a poorly planned layout, and some major water damage. We transformed it into a spacious and serene room that marries practicality and prettiness. See the video on YouTube here!
Watch the transformation above and check out the before and after images and shopping links below!
As you can see, their shower was the worst place to get clean, because it was so stained and damaged itself! We removed the shower wall only to find water damaged wood and mold behind it, so this touch up became a total overhaul.
To rebuild the shower and install this Delta UPstile 3-Piece Alcove Shower Surround, we first replaced the rotted studs and installed new drywall on the opposite wall — giving the shower a more stable and mold free foundation. We secured our shower pan into place and then the installation of the shower panels could not have been easier! We simply installed horizontal 1x3 wood pieces on our studs and then applied adhesive to the 1x3’s and stuck the shower walls on! Plus — these panels didn’t require any waterproofing, so after just a few steps, this shower was good to go!
While we were in demolition mode, we also made a few key changes to the room, including creating a bigger window!
By the way, can we talk about this vanity? The previous piece in this room was just way too big, and completely hogged most of the floorspace. We replaced it with this Glacier Bay Bathroom Vanity Cabinet, which is just the right size.
You know I love contrast, and this Delta Porter Centerset Faucet in Oil Rubbed Bronze stood out in such a modern and clean way against the predominately white space!
A huge part of this makeover, and a place that we really got to bring in some creativity and color, was the floors!
How stunning is this Merola Tile Klinker Alcazar Magnolia Encaustic Ceramic Tile? Since their bedroom has blue and white stripes, I thought these patterned tiles would be the perfect complement in the attached bathroom. What a statement floor!!
This family also loves gold (as do I!) so I couldn’t resist a touch of metallic magic with this Kraftware Mylar Polish Brass Round Waste Basket! What was that saying about trash and treasure again?
Can’t resist a selfie when you find a perfect vanity mirror like this Delta Porter Frameless Oval Bathroom Mirror!
Another key to great bathroom selfies — good lighting compliments of this Jonathan Y Caleb 2-Light Black/Brass Wall Sconce!
Consistency is key! We made sure all the hardware like the Delta Trinsic Towel Bar, Delta Comtemporary Sliding Shower Door Track, and Delta Dryden 1-Handle 1-Spray Raincan Shower Faucet Trim Kit had the same rubbed bronze finish as the sink faucet. These details all stood out so much in the room!
Can’t you just feel how soft and fluffy these LOFT by Loftex Modern Home Trends Towel Set are through the picture?
The Delta UPstile 3-Piece Alcove Shower Surround had an recessed panel that allows for customization! While it would have been fun to go bold with a colorful stripe, I think this geometric white tile added a perfectly subtle visual interest.
Storage is such a necessity in any room, and a small bathroom especially, so we installed these Home Decorators Collection Slim Floating White Shelves to give some extra space for soaps and other things!
A shelf is also prime room real estate for decor! I put together a little setup with this Pennington Ivy League Ceramic Moonstone Jardiniere and some cute baskets!
OMG! Wow! That was a major renovation, but totally worth it for these happy faces!
