So here's the thing, mid-length skirts are an elegant, effortless article of clothing. They make a tee shirt look fancy, and have all the sophisticated requirements for semi-formal wear, with the unexpected and modern twist of not being a dress. But here's also the thing — unless you've got gams to rival Gigi's, mid-length skirts are usually a one-way ticket to Oompa-town.

Styling Tips:

Actually, JK, you can make mid length skirts work! Because with a few easy styling tricks, it's oh so easy to make a mid-length skirt work for any height. In this outfit, I stayed monochromatic, a technique that always elongates the figure. I went with black because it played into my Audrey Hepburn fantasies, but this look would be amazing in any color! If you choose a voluminous skirt, like I did, it's key to keep your top fitted and tight. Even though you may feel this looks too out of an era, keeping with one vibe will help make the look appear seamless, and not forced. My last tip: ditch the ankle straps for this one! You want to make your legs seem as long as possible, so any horizontal lines across them are most unwelcome.
