one for one: products that give back

Posted by MrKate on

There are a bunch of brands sprouting up that are One for One - meaning, for every purchase they donate to some worthy cause with something related to the product that they're selling. I think it's a fantastic idea and makes me feel better about my shopping addiction when I know that because of my greed someone in need is getting something that will make a positive impact on their lives… I like to think that the things I buy make a positive impact on myself by expressing my personal style, etc. but you get what I mean…a deeper meaning, beyond shoe addiction.

So, it the new motto "I shop because I care"?….hmmm, maybe that's wishful thinking, but I'll take it!

Toms Shoes has a One for One Movement, read about their giving a pair of shoes to a child in need here. Toms are old school and really laid the groundwork for all the other one for one companies. These are my Toms Vegan Wrap Boots that I've had for a while, they're super weird and comfy!

This Bar Saves Lives! My friend Ravi Patel started this company with some friends. It's a tasty bar, full of healthy goodness and for each purchase they give a life saving packet of nutrient dense food to a hungry child!

This bestselling Screw You necklace, from my Mr. Kate jewelry collection, stands for girl power and sticking up for yourself! A portion of each "screw you" necklace purchased will be donated to charities that work to end violence against women and children.

Warby Parker Sunglasses with their "buy a pair, give a pair" motto donate a pair of eyeglasses to someone in need with each purchase of sunglasses or eyeglasses as well as work with non-profits such as Vision Spring. Their online shipping process makes it easy because they'll send you various pairs to try on with free shipping both ways so you can make sure you pick the right ones! I recently got my own pair of Warby Parker Thatcher's in Revolver Black Matte

FEED USA+ Target is FEED's line with target. They have a variety of fashion and home accessories (throw pillows, dishware, storage containers, tote bags, jewelry, etc.) and each item has a number that signifies with each purchase, how many meals will be provided to hungry children and families across America. They sent me a big box of stuff and I particularly like these Americana-themed throw pillows - especially the print on the back!
