spicy spiced mayan hot chocolate

Posted by MrKate on

last week i tweeted about this vegan hot chocolate (not cocoa, the real shizz) that i made that is an oh-so-satisfying warm, sweet treat on a rainy weekday afternoon. here's the recipe! now, i'm calling it Spicy Spiced Mayan Hot Chocolate (Vegan and Low Glycemic) but you can make it non spicy by forgoing the cayenne... but it does warm you up!

ingredients (makes 2 cups of hot chocolate): - about 1/4 to 1/3 cups of Sunspire Grain Sweetened Chocolate Chips depending on how chocolaty you want it. - 2 cups of unsweetened rice or almond milk - ground cinnamon - ground ginger - ground cayenne (optional) - cinnamon stick for garnish - agave nectar (optional)

do it: put the chocolate chips in a small sauce pan on the stove on low heat and add about a half of a cup of the rice milk. continuously stir until the chocolate has melted. add the rest of the milk, sprinkles of the spices to taste and a little agave for extra sweetness (optional because the chocolate chips are already sweet). pour and serve with a cinnamon stick.

mmmmmm!
