Our Baby's Bathroom Makeover!

Posted by MrKate on

Our guest bathroom is about to have the guest of a lifetime! As we're preparing for Moon's landing (he's due in less than a month, now!), Joey and I thought it was time that we took the plunge and renovated our true-to-its-1920s-roots guest bathroom.

The black and white color scheme of the bathroom was the inspiration for the entire house, so I wanted to keep that element in tact while providing much needed updates to the tiling, sink situation, bathtub, and shower. Watch the episode above and check out the before and after pics below!

Since the master bathroom was a more recent addition to the house right behind this bathroom, the windows in this room were boarded over, leaving unfulfilled rectangles in the back wall. Also the side wall placement of the sink wasn't logical, as it blocked the drawers from opening!

As much as I loved the original 1920s floor tiling, there was a major crack going across the entire floor!

Demo time!

We removed the entire back cabinet fixture to make room for a sink and vanity along that wall.

New bathroom hardware! One thing I will *not* miss about that bathroom were the 1980s handles in the shower and tub.

Reveal time! I'm so enamored with how this bathroom turned out and I can't wait for Moon to grow up in this space of his own!

We love this wood tone vanity, which centers the room and gives plenty of storage!

While a lot of the hardware for the bathroom is silver, I loved these brassy gold sconces. Mixed metals are never a bad idea!

I think this is just about the best bathtub faucet a mom and dad and Moon could hope for! I love that it has a detachable nozzle!

These nooks look so gorgeous and defined thanks to the brass schluter!

Of course, no room is complete without some DIY artwork! I wanted to pay a subtle homage to Moon's namesake with some dipytch paintings.

Of course, the piece de resistance of the entire bathroom is this big, beautiful, shiny mirrored medicine cabinet!
