DIY Large Photo Frame Hack

Posted by MrKate on

It's common to have a few favorite photos on display around your home — they're personal, they're special, and it's so fun to find frames! But, why limit yourself to a 4x6 or 5x7 standard photo print-out size? If there is a photo you have taken that is special to you, #whynot get it as a large, high quality print and show it off in a sleek, custom acrylic frame instead?!

Part of the room design for Alisha Marie involved a special poolside shoot we did to get those perfect Palm Springs vibes, and such a fun photo needed the star treatment!

Prep It:

Camera Photo-editing software Acrylic sheets Plastic drill bit Stand-offs

Do It!:

  1. Take your photo on a good quality camera, then touch it up as desired on a photo-editing program! It's important that the file size can be quite large, so that the picture can be printed with perfect clarity.
  2. Send your photo to a print shop (either online or a local option — we used Richard Photo Lab), and get it in the desired size.
  3. Frame in the acrylic frame and mount to the wall following the instructions in the DIY Acrylic Frame Calendar video!
