DIY faux flower lampshade

Posted by MrKate on

It's true, lately I've been obsessed with finding all possible ways to use faux aka silk aka fabric flowers. So, armed with my DIY Rose Crown I created a flower lampshade! A feminine lamp like this would work well in lots of different design themes from bohemian to shabby chic, depending on the color flowers you choose. Check your local thrift stores and flea markets for lamps that you can easily update with some spray paint or a new shade.

Watch the video above for the full how-to plus a flower shower, flower sandwich and a flower omelet and beyond!

Prep It:
  • lampshade
  • faux flowers - I got a bunch from my local craft store - you can buy them cheaper in bouquets and then cut them off the stems
  • hot glue gun
  • scissors

DO IT!:
  1. Cut the individual flowers off the plastic stems - make sure you keep a little bit of stem on the flower to keep it together
  2. Hot glue the flowers around the lampshade - I like to work in circles around the circumference of the shade to fill in all the gaps. You can cover the whole shade or play with putting flowers only on the rim of the shade, etc.

I'm the faux flower monster! I can't get enough!
