Mr. Kate Advent Calendar Day 4: Double Duty Ornaments!
Nothing beats sparkle during the holidays. Baubles that shimmer and shine add extra dimension and dazzle to a tree. They reflect the lights, catch the eye, and make it all feel a little extra glamorous.
So, imagine how my eyes lit up when I came across these precious vials of glitter. You can buy these vials at Target or you can very easily DIY your own with some cute bottles, corks, and sparkles! With a little wire and some creative spirit, I was able to transform them into mini ornaments to hang on my tree and add to gifts for a nice DIY touch. The best part is they still function as vials of glitter! If ever a manicure or a project calls in the future, you are all set!
Mini bottles of glitter Copper wire Wire cutters Needle nose pliers
- Start by cutting about 12 inches of wire. Wrap the wire around the mouth of the vial multiple times, until it has a secure hold.
- Using the pliers, use the remaining length of wire into a loop large enough to hang from a tree branch or present. Then twist the wire around the loops on the lid and secure.
- An additional DIY element is to use small vials, glass jars, or containers you've collected and fill them with glitter, or other shimmery or surprising elements! Feathers could add an ethereal touch, or full cloves and anise stars would be apropos for a baker. Get creative!
